My Year In Room 19

This year 2013 I've been in room 19, the best class ever.  Its big and has heaps of displays on the walls. Room 19 is a class where kid co-operate, learn and are taken care of.

To all the year Eights, farewell . Thanks for always having my back, and for keeping me safe through the year and also for helping me in class. Farewell Miss Tito you've been the best teacher so far for me and hope to see you in the future.

Thanks to all my past teacher like Miss Lal, Mrs She, Ms Glaze , Miss Mikenly, Miss Walters, Mr Marks , Miss Garden and Miss Tito. You guys have taught me throughout my years at Pt England and it's time for me to say thank you for teaching me things I didn't know.  Thanks for disciplining me when I was a little devil.

Next year my resolution is to keep trying and to be a model for next years year 7's. I hope to be a good boy next year and not to be how I am now, because I'm naughty (sometimes). I'm going to improve in my behaviour and my academic subjects.

Since this year was my favourite I want to thank everyone in my class for making this year the best. Its the end of the year and its time for the year eights to leave so goodbye and good luck in college bye.

Howards Netbook reflection

For the past three years us Pt England students year 5 and up have been using Net books. Net books are portable, easy to use easy to maintain and good for communication. There's many sources I can use to learn like Google search , Google Drive and even Gmail.

This year I've learn't allot from a Net book , its almost as if it's my teacher. Some days I look up questions that pop up in my head like how does electricity come from the sky, how does a camera take photo's, and I find my answers on my Net book.

Net books are Kid safe which means they only go on sites there suppose to go on. Its built strong for children so it kid compatible. There fun and cheap to buy.Our mums and dads pay 15$ a month for three years paying off our Net books. When its all paid off we get a new series of Net book featuring Samsung apps and a gold case for the Net book.

This year something my teacher taught me was to stand out from the rest and not be afraid of what will happen in the future.I think that's the most important thing she taught me this year.

Having a Net book means I can communicate with my friends if they need help, or I can show them what to do by having an example ready for them. I can Hyper link ticks so it takes people to my work.

Action World

On Friday the 6th of december all the year sevens of Pt England school went to a place called action world. It was amazing ! The place was like an inflatable heaven.

We went there because the Year 8's were at Keswick Camp in Rotarua. The Bus came and picked us up from school. While we waited, we played games, we talked, and ran around. There was nothing to do really, just sit and wait.

The particular Action World we went to was the one in Henderson Auckland. It was 20$ each for a student. As soon as we got there the boss of this Action World Jerry took us through a pep talk of what should do and the instructions.

We all set off to take turn on the activities. First I went on the crazy ladder a spinning cyclone of wooden clogs and rope. IT WAS HARD! Second I went on the High Wire which was just like walking on a fence , but higher. Third I went on the Leap of faith which wasn't so high and wasn't so hard all you had to do was jump off a platform.

There were lots of different activities like the jungle swings the trapeze , the rock wall , the jump and slid, the leap of faith ,the high wire ,the crazy ladder and the jousting bridge.I liked all of them.

It was 12 o'clock and it was time to depart this jar full of fun so we left taking memories of fun activities with us.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela changed the world by chasing his dreams. He became the first coloured president of the world after being in jail for 27 years for standing for apartheid. And on friday the sixth of December died due to old age, he was 95 years old.

In Nelson’s early childhood when he was about 9 years old his name was Rolihlahla. His teacher asked him “ do you have a Christian name “ and Rolihlahla replied “No “ so his teacher your name will be Nelson. So from that point on he was called by that name.

Nelson stood against apartheid, doing everything in his strive to achieve his goals. He made a stand for the coloured people and they supported him. He was arrested.

He went to jail for 27 years for it , but it was worth it. After he had finished 27 years in prison he had become president of Africa and the first coloured president of the world.

His journey had finished as president of RSA, so he retired. He got sick , and just faintly alive. And just on friday the 6th of december 2013 at the age of 95 he passed away.

I think the world could learn from this man is to follow your dreams if you know its right and keep striving to succeed.

Cross Country 2013

On the 22 of the 8 Pt England school had a cross-country run,we all had our own houses that were named my house was Tearawa this house is named after a Maori . We all had to wait for our turns

to run because we had to do it from juniors to senior the year 5 to 8's had to run two laps starting from our school fields.

It was time that we had to step we had to line up for cross-country as we lined up to get ready for our run our principle Mr Burt talks to us about where we're running our principle say's on you mark so when you put two together get set is when you put one foot back then he said go and off we go for our 3 k run.

As I was running in the start my was pumping like a cheetah running as fast as I could, my legs ached and ached  because I sprinted at the beginning . I could feel my back clicking as I was running ,so I ran a little bit slower because I didn't want to stop.  .My goal yesterday was to try and run  non stop,as the race finished I felt relieved .

I was very happy that I ran non stop I would like to say a big thank you to the Tamaki college Service academy for helping our school on the cross Country day.

Love Movie Reflection

This Week Rooms 19 1/2 of room 22 and room 15 had a challenge. The challenge was to aether make a movie about love or a sculpture ,picture , or a poem. I made a movie it was about the song Just The Way You Are By Bruno Mars. The Movie was created by me and my friend Anthony.

It was difficult because Anthony was filming and acting. We cut out the snippets where he ran in to the shot. I had to sing because we couldn't get the actual song into Imovie.

Beauty And The Beast Re-write

Charming and the Beast:Once upon a time there lived a ferocious woman eating beast, that lived deep in the heart of the forest in a gloomy underground lair. There was a prince charming who once went into the woods to practice some archery, he shot some arrows and went to fetch them then all of a sudden he stumbled across a trap and fell in. He was knocked out unconscious , until he woke up to a saggy beast curled up on a lazy Boy staring at him. Charming got the biggest fright of his life and he said to the Beast “ I’ll be back tomorrow I just need clothes”. So the  beast accepted his request and sent him off.The beast waited beast waited and waited staring at the same place where the prince was, hoping he would come back, but he never turned up.  She felt heart broken her eye twitched and she looked furiously everywhere as she picked up his scent and set off to hunt him down. While the prince was practising fencing in his room  the the  beast bursts through his window with blood shot eyes sweeps the prince off his feet and takes him back to her dungeon of doom. She orders the prince to dine with him every night. The prince did it because he was afraid of her, but shortly he started to see changes in her body language and in the way she treated him. So he started developing feelings for her. One night while they were having dinner. He asked the beast “ Why do you live in this lair all alone?” “Because I’ve been cursed, if I don’t find true love I will die.” Replied the beast. The prince developed even deeper feelings for the beast and showed the beast how to have a great time. They both learn how to waltz together and then changed the dark lair into a beautiful radiant palace. Meanwhile in the kingdom of Charmington all the people were looking for their prince. They searched high and low then came to a conclusion that the prince was dead. His mother refused to believe it because she saw scratch marks on the on his bedroom window and knew it was the beast. So she grabbed his bow and arrows and went off to search for the beast's’ lair. While the beast and the prince were having dinner the mother bursts through the door aiming her arrow at the beast ready to shoot. As she shoots the prince jumps in front of the beast to protect her and gets shot right in the heart. He looked towards the beast and said his last words “I love you.” The beast kissed the prince goodbye. The beast suddenly started glowing and elevated into the air glowing bright yellow twirling around. Slowly the beast turned into a human, as the beast lies back down the light diminishes revealing a beautiful, stunning princess. The magic light from the transformation healed the dying prince. Seeing this the mother had a change of heart and shortly after the prince and the once was beast got married they ruled the Charmington Kingdom together.

Raihan,Anthony and Howard Prospective Student Narrative

There he was climbing a triturous mountain to get to the mystical dojo of doom. Chuckie Chan was determined to find his inner chi and get his medal of achievements in kung fu at this prestigious school of martial arts.

When he reached the dojo of doom he rang the doorbell a sensei came out and pointed to the right hand side of him. Chuckie Chan was confused with what the sensei did and started to meditate all day and night to show the sensei that he was eager to get into this school.

The next day the door opened and Chuckie Chan awakened but the sensei still pointed to the right hand side. Chuckie Chan got furious at the sensei and threatened to use kung fu punches and kicks at him but then the sensei pointed again.

Chuckie Chan looked on the side of the dojo wall and a sign hung on a nail and said PLEASE USE THE SIDE DOOR TO GET IN!! Chuckie Chan got embarrassed and walked to the side door relieved.

Howard SSW-Week 7

It was a cold, dark gloomy night. I stumbled upon an abandoned hut deep in the heart of the forest. I was just about to enter the hut when suddenly an old lady shouted from a distance saying” Get away from my house you meddling child”. So obviously I didn’t  I just jumped in the bush.

When that ugly old lady walked into the front door I heard a scream saying” mum please please don’t”. The kid was screaming because the ugly old lady was gonna make him dress up as little red riding hood and kill the grandma.

I heard the whole plot. So I got my dad Mr Potato head to kill the boy and the ugly old lady. When I told him he put on his angry eyes. Because Red riding hood's grandma is my dad’s current girlfriend.

The boy set off and his name was Jack as you might know from the poem Jack & Jill. I followed him all the way to grandma’s little cottage. The little boy knocked on the door and in a sweet voice saying” Grandma its me Little Red Riding Hood. Then the Grandma replied” GAP IT i’m cleaning my cottage bro”. Just so you know she was not the grandma you thought she was.

My dad went to the wrong house he went to a house in Jamaica. So the boy waited there quietly and knocked once more the Oldy opened the door and karate kicked the boy all the way back where he came from, which was the top of the hill.

My Weekend

On Saturday me my sister and my mum went to watch my little cousins netball game in Mangere. It was fun and there was lots of people there. The game started at 11:00 so we got time to watch other games and play around.

A loud buzzer went of and that meant it was time for a game to start and it was 11:00. So I ran to court number 2 and watched. It was funny. Two of the girls that were playing both grabbed the ball and were fighting over it. the game was an hour.

The game finished and I went to my cousins house and slept the night.

Fiafia 2013 Unicycle

Every week on Thursdays and Fridays Pt England School has Fiafia practice. I'm in the Unicycling group with our tutor Miss Rapold. There are many different cultured groups like the Samoan , Tongan, Cook Island, Niue, and even Hawaii.

When I started unicycling I completely sucked, but now I'm able to ride around the whole school without falling. I thought I was never going learn , but our tutor is really good at teaching us new tricks like how to hop and how to free mount.

Miss Rapold has a tall 6 ft unicycle. The only people that can ride it is Miss Rapold obviously ,Isara and Levi. I can't ride it because I don't have enough balance to ride something that high.

There are seven people in my group and there names are Isara, Texas,Anthony, Sohel, John lee ,Levi, and finally  me Howard. It took Miss Rapold weeks to learn our names. She kept on asking us until she got it.

In the end I like Unicycling the best out of all the groups because I'm learning something that I might never get another chance to do.

Triathlon

On Wednesday Room 19 went to do a Triathlon on the field. Everyone was excited !!!!  I thought it was going to be cool and it was.

As we walked to the field everyone was asking our Teacher Miss Tito “ Do we have to swim because I don’t have my togs” and she kept on  replying “ Yes swim in your P.E ( Physical Education ) gear.

The time came when we got our destination the field. There was a man named Brent and he explained the rule to us and what Triathlon means. The rules where :

  • Never ride your bike in Transition.
  • When your swimming always run right around the cones.

Room 12 came and joined us. The order went first rm 12 girls , then rm 12 boys , rm 19 girls, and then finally rm 19 boys. When it was rm 19 boys turn all of us were revved up. As we stood a the starting line in front of the water slide a man called Adrian Sprayed us with a hose.

GO!! Yelled the starter. Everyone dashed and slided on the slide four times before they could hop on a bike. When we were finished with the slide we each hopped on a bike and started to ride.

We did one lap each then started to run. All of the people cheered and cheered. I sprinted my hardest.

Harakeke ( Flax)

On Thursday Room 19 did an activity with Miss Tito. The activity was Platting Harakeke (Flax). We were Platting a Puti Puti (Flower) out of Flax. It was exciting!!!

So we marched on to the Oamaru Creek ,because we had to get some flax first. Before anyone could go and cut there flax Miss Tito our Teacher explained the rules to us , and the rules were

  • There a three peices of flax stuck together and you are not allowed to cut them or the plant will die.
  • Never cut harakeke at night  time because you might cut the wrong peice
  • Never cut harakeke  in the rain because the bit where you cut is where the gum is and if the rain touches it the whole plant dies.
  • Never step on Harakeke.
  • Never hit your friends with harakeke.
  • Always cut downwards when you when cut your flax

Miss Tito sent us out to cut our pieces. My partner was Sonny and we were good partners. I like being with him because he is cool.

Everyone had cut  their piece and it was ready to go we marched back to school. We got to school and started our plats. I liked it.

First  Miss Tito went over how to do it . Everyone listened carefully because they didn’t want to get anything wrong. We started.

I listened very good. At the end I got it right and some people got it wrong.

TuaKana Teina

Every Tuesday Room 19 goes to the Pt England library to do a reading program called TuaKana Teina (Big Brother Little Sister) with Room 9. We go there to give them support in reading, because they find it difficult. Sometimes they just want to run around and be silly or sit behave and listen to a story.

I like having TuaKana Teina session's because it’s fun. Some people don’t like it because they don’t like reading. The little kids a very quiet around the big kids because there shy.

We start reading with them after lunch witch is 2:00. Then we finish at 2:50 . When it’s time to go home everyone moans.

School Picnic

Last Friday at Pt England school we had a picnic at the Pt England Beach. Everyone was so excited that they were bragging how cool it was last year. Some people didn’t really want to go so they either stayed home or just came for the sake of it.

The day came and everyone was happy. Mr Burt talked to all of us and explained the rules. We were so excited that we weren’t even listening to him and most of the time we were fiddling. “Yes!” said my friends “it’s time to go.”

We got there and it didn’t take that long. Mr Burt called a little meeting and as soon as he was finished everyone scattered across the giant field. I played Rugby with some other boys of the school. The game was actually it was supposed to be Ripper rugby, but Mr Marsters said we could play rugby.

I stopped playing and then went to relax on the beach. As I rested I ate my lunch and talked to my friends. Watching the beautiful sky a kite blocked my view. So I got up and looked at who was flying it and it was Mr Barks. Soon it was time to go home.

My Definition of Honesty

Honesty is a word of truthfulness and trust. It means a quality of being honest. People use this word for trust. Most people aren’t honest all the time and nor am I.

My definition of Honesty is always being truthful even if you know the truth will hurt.

Touch

Yesterday room 19 went to learn and  play a game called touch. Touch is kind of like rugby , but you don’t tackle you touch them. The first thing we done was go through some drills of what to do.

My definition of this game is really fun and I think I would  do it again anytime anywhere.
